Tomorrow...

is my last day.

Eye Exam

I'm usually pretty good at passing exams, but not this one.

I'll be getting glasses.

I've picked them out and everything, but because of the insurance we have, it will be 3-4 weeks before I get them. They're pretty cute...I think I'll like them. I guess I'll have to post a picture when I get them.

Speaking of the insurance we have...
Don't believe the lady on the phone when you ask what the vision plan includes and she says $10 for the exam and $25 for either glasses or contacts. What she really means is $10 for the exam, the difference of the frames over $100, $25 for lenses (unless they are too thick for the frames, then it's an additional $25),$50 additional for transitional lenses, and the list goes on and on to the tune of $175. Don't get me wrong...I'm thankful for my insurance, I just have to laugh at the difference in what I paid when I thought I'd only be paying $35!!!

Oh! Dan's getting glasses, too...hehehe.

Yeah....we're getting old.

five year pin

October 20 was my official five year mark with Kirkland's. It came and went, and I saw my name in the newsletter in the anniversary section, but that's really all I thought about it.

Well, when my district manager came to my store this week, he had a package for me in tow. I was really excited! It was like Christmas!

Inside was my gold five year pin, a certificate, and a catalog for my level that I can order something out of that will have the Kirkland's logo on it. You know, like a watch or ring or fishing combo (how random is that?), or a pda...stuff like that. It's pretty cool!

Tearful

Today has been an on-and-off tearful day.

I'm usually not that way.

I can have emotional times, don't get me wrong, but, for example, when I go to the movies with the girls and they have tears falling down their faces at the chick-flick (given kdp didn't pick the movie), I'm like blinking trying to squeeze out a tear or two that won't come even though I feel it on the inside.

Oh my goodness...that was the longest run-on sentence I've ever written in my life.

Today was different, though.

We had a store meeting this morning where I explained to my team members about what has been transpiring over the last several months, and I told them that the first Friday of February would be my last day in this store. They were all very sweet and encouraging to me, but I did get a little emotional.

Then worship this morning was amazing. If you weren't there, you missed a really sweet time of worship. Again...tears.

Then, you know, as many times as I've seen Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Ty Pennington can still get a few tears out of me. Sad, I know. I will have to say, though, if you can't shed some tears over a woman and her two kids who lost their husband/dad six months ago and are about to lose the family house and horse barn that get disabled people to ride horses as therapy because it's all starting to fall apart because there's no one to fix all the problems, then your heart really does need serious softening.

What is up with my grammar tonight???

Anyway...so that's been my day.

Good night.

So...so.....BAD!!!

Somehow, someway, I'm not sure how or why this happened, but Dan convinced me that we needed marshmallow cream.

I was strong at first and resisted, but, alas, I gave in.

It got worse.

When he went to the store (yes, I made him go), he did not stop at marshmallow cream. He proceded to get graham crackers and chocolate bars as well. I was good, though, I didn't do the whole s'more thing.

Until today.

Oh. my. goodness.

It was a mess.

It was an oooey, goooey mess.

And it was ssssooooooo good.

No judgement.....right?!?

a sale that will make you drop your drawers!

Our sale must've made someone really happy because they dropped their drawers at the doorway!

It is that good of a sale, but really, people, keep your clothes on!

I think what really happened was that this person must have been wearing freshly laundered pants that had a pair of underwear stuck in the leg which unknowingly slipped out of said pant leg inside our doorway.

At least, that is what I choose to believe.

Update on Changes

To refresh your memory on a previous post, click here.

Our district has two stores open in the Dallas area. One of them is an Arlington store, the other one is a store that opened this last March in Lake Worth. Right now, it looks like I will be getting the Lake Worth store.

Mike was in my store this week and sat down with my assistant for a formal interview for the team leader position of my store. He also sat with me and gave me some history about the Lake Worth store. There have been some problems in the past, but he said the problems are gone, now they just need a little TLC and training.

The target date for me to be there is the first week of February, which begins the new fiscal year for us. The regional team leader is on vacation this week, so this isn't set in stone. Final approval has to go through her, so hopefully things will be finalized in the next week. After we get final approval, Liz and I will probably have a store meeting to make the announcement. I don't anticipate any problems...they may want to throw a party! ;)

That's all I know for now! I will keep you updated. Dan and I would appreciate your prayers!
