and so goes the world of ree...

Just some random things to blog about.

*My assistant has been out on worker's comp since 3/16. I thought she was going to be back this week, but her doctor is on vacation, so she has to wait until he's back so he can release her.

*I can't believe how expensive groceries are! Seriously, I can pinch pennies. There are very few things that I buy name brand, and still I did not leave the grocery store without spending over $100!!! I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but looking at what was in my basket, I didn't think it was a lot!

*I had an episode last week that landed me in the cardiologist office. Thankfully, it's not a big deal, but I have to go through some testing later this week to get cleared. I wasn't having chest pain or anything, but I kept feeling a flip-flop sensation in my chest. There are some times where I have an irregular heartbeat, so I'll have a stress test and then wear a halter monitor for a day just to be sure it's random and not something more serious. Thank you, Jesus, for insurance.

*Fine Arts is in full swing. Dan has already sent out letters to evaluators and getting the ball rolling there. We have a few dates scheduled for workshops with youth groups, and we are going to West TX to help evaluate their district Fine Arts in April. We were invited to evaluate at the Illinois district the weekend after West TX, but I won't be able to go to that one. I think Dan's planning on going, though. It's always stressful, but I love Fine Arts!

*Last week was a great time with family. We spent Easter with some of my family, then throughout the week, we've spent time with Dan's family who live in the area. One of his aunts was visiting from Oklahoma, so we took this opportunity to have a little get together. It's been great!

*Tomorrow is my Pa's 97th birthday! I'm so thankful I still have him. I love to hear him talk, even though what he says may not make sense to me. I love the gentle raspiness of his voice...always kind, considerate, and appreciative.
I love you, Pa! Happy birthday!!

I guess that's about it for now...it's time for bed!

Concert at Six Flags

Here is a condensed version of the pictures from the concert at Six Flags Saturday. We really had a lot of fun. We got to go backstage and get pictures made with Flyleaf. Katie was beside herself, she was so excited. Hopefully, this was the icing on the cake for her birthday! Now, I just have to figure out how I'm gonna top this one next year! :)

The Weekend Off!!!

*I slept in until 10 this morning...it was ssoooooo nice!

*After some biscuits and gravy, Dan and I worked outside for a little while. Then I cleaned house and Dan cleaned out the storage bin.

*My mom and neice came into town. It's Katie's spring break, so we're taking her to Six Flags tomorrow, then a Flyleaf concert tomorrow night. She knew she was going Six Flags, but the Flyleaf concert was a surprise for her birthday. (Don't feel bad if you don't know who Flyleaf is...they are wonderful people, but they are probably not on any of your playlists!) :)

*We went shopping for Katie an Easter dress. Her cousin Shauni, who is also 15, went with us. I was put in the same category as my mom and aunt...old. One dress I showed Katie got a snarl and shake of the head. The other outfit I picked out was semi-approved...she liked the skirt, but the top was "nerdy". So she started trying on outfits that she and Shauni picked out. At one point I went back to the fitting room to see how things were going. Katie was admiring herself in the mirror wearing the very dress I held up and got snarled at! It was pretty funny. We really did have a great time today with the girls. In the end, she got the skirt I had picked out with a tee and a tank underneath.

*The day was rounded out by lasagne and a movie at my aunt's house with ice cream for dessert.

*I don't know why I am still up. Tomorrow...um, today...will be a long day. But, oh, so worth it. The only good thing about not having kids right now is that I get to do cool things for Katie. She has had a lot of hard times in her 15 years, so she is deserving of something fun!

*Okay, it's off to bed I go!

Thanks!

Thank you for your prayers today.

I did what I had to do and said what I needed to say to present my case. It was very well received, but didn't exactly go in my favor.

Okay, I'll just spill it. I'm not good at being vague.

Dan and I are considering the lapband surgery. My insurance company covers it, but my employer has chosen to exclude it as an option in the plan they offer. I had to call human resources today to see if they would consider granting a medical exception so that the insurance would cover it. They didn't exactly agree, but they gave me the number to appeal it to the insurance company. So now, basically, our doctor will have to present his case in writing to the insurance company.

I just found it really hard to ask for them to make an exception to the rule for my benefit. This is something that I really want, but I don't like to feel like I'm putting anyone else in a bad position or putting them out for whatever reason.

I would appreciate continued prayer for the situation. I'm 35. Time is ticking if we want a baby. The clomid did not work, and honestly, I don't think it will until I lose a significant amount of weight. And when that happens, I may not even need the clomid.

I don't know. I'm babbling. I'm grasping. I just know I gotta do something.

Confrontation

I don't like it. At all.

I've always been a play-by-the-rules kinda girl, and if something was not in the rules, then that's the end of the story. But now I'm in a position where I have to ask for an exception to the rule for my benefit, and it's so hard for me.

I have to do this, though.

Please pray for me.

Crazy Dog!

I have to show you this picture...
Tonight I was sitting at the computer with Rosie in my lap underneath a lap blanket. Dan came into the house, and she tore out from underneath the blanket. She didn't want down, but she was trying to climb the table to get to him. This is what it ended up looking like...

New Store

Here's a couple of pictures of the store here in Lake Worth. It's different from the one in San Angelo not only in looks, but also in the fixtures we use. It's taken a little bit to get used to, but so far, so good!

More on the Laundry-Thing

Okay, here's a funny story that goes along with a's laundry blog.

As stated in the earlier post, we tackled laundry today. We had two laundry baskets of folded laundry and some hanging clothes that needed to finish drying. When we got home, we did the tag-team thing where Dan brought it from the car and I got it out of the doorway. I put away all the hanging clothes and one of the baskets. I was working on the second basket when Dan said, "Why don't you go ahead and get ready for dinner?"

We were meeting a youth pastor-friend and his wife for dinner tonight, and my laundromat attire was not a pretty sight.

So, off I went to get ready for dinner. I came out of the bathroom about 20 minutes later, and you know where the laundry basket was?

Mmm-hmmm, you know, it was right where I left it.

I wasn't as polite as A. I did the whole big sigh thing and started putting it away, which made him feel bad, and began an argument.

BUT...the laundry is put away!

**Disclaimer...I will have to say that Dan is really good at helping with the laundry and other household chores. There have been several times that he's done all of the laundry by himself which included sorting, washing, drying, folding, AND putting away. Thank you, baby!**

More Stuff

Okay, thanks to Casey, the computer is up and running now. How do we get so attached to these things?!?

This weekend has not turned out the way we had planned in any form or fashion. It started out to be when we celebrated my birthday, but those plans fizzled out, which is just as well because my mother-in-law and sister-in-law moved to Weatherford this weekend. We needed all hand-on-deck to get their truck unloaded in a decent amount of time. Enter the tummy bug on Friday night. No, I wasn't faking. I literally laid on the couch all day Saturday. Not so enjoyable.

Today is better, though. I feel better...not so drained...head's not pounding...stomach isn't so queasey...yes, I feel much better!

So the next thing to tackle...laundry. YUCK! We do have a pretty good system of doing laundry, but just doing it is the problem. We can do laundry about once every week-10 days. (Remember, we don't have kids.) The whole process takes about three hours. It pretty much has to be put away when we get home or else we can't sit down! =)

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Maybe I'll have more to say later.

stuff

This won't be long because i'm typing from dan's itouch. Super annoying.

Our computer crashed, so blogging is limited. :(

I got bit by the tummy bug. So not fun.

Okay...love y'all, but typing on this thing is getting on my nerves. Hopefully our laptop will be up and running tomorrow.
